Its the weekends yet again! Woo~
Hmm this week has been rather uneventful, the daily runs i have has been reduced significantly as i am experiencing fatigue problems everytime i run so i guess its like "pain is no gain" rather than "no pain no gain" im sure some of you all will experience this if you all workout too much. I guess its also due to the heat wave these days. Crazy weather... Singapore just gets "better" and "better" doesn't it ? XD
Right, lets talk about something. Hmm... ah yes the exams draw near as the end of the year approaches. Many of the students in school are busy mugging away for their exams. Im sure you all who are schooling would be too studying for your end of the year exam or the second semester tests. Heres wishing all of you all a well study period. ^^
You know the question has been bugging me. It has been talked about on all sorts of media and even would be once on your composition paper as one of the topics to write about.
The question is, " Are exams really important? Do they really determine or fate?" We all know that piece of paper which is oh so fragile, is the key to our future lives. Whether we make or break depends on it. It is also because of that that many people has considered whether it is really good to stay in Singapore, which is a country full of competition. " Kiasu" parents make their child learn all sorts of things such as piano for example, but they have forgotten about one thing. Does their child really have an intrest in it?
This results in the possiblitlity that the child might not have a carefree childhood. but of course the child would not know that as it is a daily routine for him/ her to learn these things. Of course learning these things are good for cultivating oneself but at the same time, we must not forget that oo much 'cultivating' might break ones mind. Examples of students ending their lives because of studies have been rather abundant in news. Movies like the popular ' I not Stupid" by jack neo has shown this kind of situation where the lesser abled students are discrimminated against.
Im sure all of you have experienced matters like being nagged at for not studying or getting discrimmanted because you are one of the few failures in class. In addition, some of you might be even compared with other people be it results or the number of talents. (Being able to play the vioin, etc) Movies like the popular ' I not Stupid" by jack neo has shown this kind of situation where the lesser abled students are discrimminated against and scenes of pressure leading to attempted suicide.
I have wondered why dont Singapore be less focused on the number of As we score for our exams and instead judge us on what we can do. It is very true some people who can study very well if put in a situation where one has to do on the spot thinking, and manual things, would not be able to be up to it.
For me i would rather have a kind of system that would place us into a 50 percent theory and 50 percent practicality assesment What say you? Comment on the tagboard! ^^
